1966: Joined Kikkoman Soy Sauce Co., Ltd.
 
1974: Left the company. After working at a small patent firm, moved to Washington, D.C., U.S.
 
1979: Established the Shusaku Yamamoto Patent Office in Osaka
 
2014: Restructured the firm to become Yamamoto Patent & Law Office
 
Advisor to the Osaka University Industry-Academia Collaboration Headquarters; Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University; Vice Chair of the Life Sciences Promotion Committee, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry; among other roles.
 

 
Yamamoto Patent & Law Office currently has a total staff of 180, including over 30 attorneys and patent attorneys. The firm handles corporate legal affairs, intellectual property, competition law, litigation, and dispute resolution. 1974年　同社退社。小規模特許事務所を経て、米国ワシントンDCへ

2014年　組織変更し、山本特許法律事務所に
大阪大学産学共創本部顧問、大阪大学大学院医学系研究科招聘教授、大阪商工会議所・ライフサイエンス振興委員会副委員長など。

山本特許法律事務所は現在、弁護士・弁理士30数名を含む総勢180名。企業法務・知財・競争法・訴訟・紛争解決などを扱う。米国企業・大学を代理した日本への特許出願件数は20数年間連続トップ（2003年〜2025年：野村総研特許データベース・サイバーパテントデータ）。
